Privilege and Founding Fathers

This photo is not complicated, reality is. Remembering when a homeless black man shared his anger on me — saying welcome to our world whitey, now that it affects you you care (talking to me and occupy madison as a whole, back in 2011). Thinking about going to the #ferguson vigil filled mostly with white people at the top of state street. We walked thru the philosopher stones where homeless folks tend to congregate as there is seating and not far from the shelters. Most that day were african american. We talked to two that Will was friends with on the way to the vigil and shared what we were doing. One of the two said to me: “wtf? the police here are just as bad. i got put in jail for over the weekend for prescription drugs that were mine. they let me go on monday with no charges.”
